Duna Residence
Situated in one of the most beautiful buildings of Budapest Downtown, the Duna Residence by Aēform is a bespoke alteration of a 100-year-old flat that aims to create a connection between the old and the new. With eyes on the challenge of bringing this gorgeous home up to date, our team was conscious of the art-nouveau bones, which allowed the initial concept to evolve organically into an elegant and timeless design. See how we turned this home into a functional and exciting space.
This project involved alterations of the former layout; the kitchen was relocated to the living room, creating an open-style sitting area with access to the terrace. Some addition was also made to the second bedroom & bathroom.
The design team accepted the challenge of creating a balance between space and materials used, giving the home an air of light and bright comfort. The interior was completed by a black & grey palette of colours and materials like terrazzo, black stained timber, white walls, smoked-glass panels and timber floors, giving the home a subtle but striking appearance.
The Duna Residence offers exceptional living with its light-filled interiors and grandiose terrace, which enriches the home's exclusivity with a panoramic view. A celebration of perfectly shaped Danish furniture and a connection with the city vibes has been achieved, and this home has become one of Budapest's hidden gems.
